Biking for a World Without Diabetes

HCBikers

Every year, our bike-enthusiast team members eagerly await the national American Diabetes Association (ADA) Tour de Cure event. It’s a chance for the team to get some fresh air and exercise while helping raise money to find a cure for diabetes.

Nearly 30 million people battle diabetes every day in the U.S. and every 23 seconds someone new is diagnosed. Do you know someone with diabetes? Likely we all know someone fighting this disease, but they might be dealing with it alone. It is time for us to work together to make a change and stop diabetes.

The Tour de Cure is an inspiring charity event that brings together over 50,000 participants in nearly 80 cities across the country. It is the nation’s largest diabetes cycling event and raises funds for the ADA’s research, education, and advocacy programs that support the nearly 30 million children and adults in the U.S. with diabetes, and the 86 million with pre-diabetes.

Beth Schurman, VP at Herspiegel, says, “riding in the Tour is a great reminder that we need to continue to fight for the future. A future where a parent does not have to hear that their child has diabetes. A future where an adult does not have to face the uncertain times ahead after receiving a diabetes diagnosis. A future where you and I will know that we had a part in making this possible.”

So true, Beth! Let’s stop diabetes and find a cure together!

It’s more fun to make a difference together! A big congratulations to the Herspiegel team members who joined the Tour de Cure event and to all the riders and volunteers who supported this event!
